an artist, her dog, and the PNW
Hi everyone – I am Michele, the artist behind Rim & Peak Studio! Florida born girl that is now residing in Oregon with her adventure pup – and constant studio sidekick – Takoda. I am studying wildlife conservation at Oregon State University and my ultimate goal is to tie my work back into conservation efforts for wildlife and the wild spaces we all love.
Painting lets me explore my joy of sketching and playing around with different mediums, like acrylic or watercolor. Quilting, on the other hand, connects me to something more functional - pieces that can be used, carried, or gifted. Working with fabric brings a different kind of creativity. My sketching skills from painting easily flow into my quilting by designing applique designs or quilt patterns.
After moving to Oregon, my creativity took on new life. The PNW offers endless inspiration - the colors, landscapes, and overall atmosphere have deeply shaped the way I create.
At its core, my work is about connection. I want people to see something that reminds them of a place they love, an animal they connect with, or simply a feeling they want to bring into their space.
What started as something I made for fun and mostly as gifts, gradually grew as others began asking about my work. That encouragement is what led me to share it more intentionally. I’m not interested in creating things that feel out of reach so I focus on small-batch pieces that are meant to be used, enjoyed, and lived with.
I’ve always felt a little outside the box in my own style, and I hope my work gives others the freedom to express that too - through pieces that bring joy, reflect personal taste, and feel connected to something meaningful.
